The project
Carol Morgan School is one of Santo Domingo's most recognized educational institutions. The HVAC project Mecatecnia executed there carried a specific level of technical demand: a school in operation needs its climate control system to run with precision across long school days, maintain noise levels compatible with learning, and allow each classroom's temperature to be adjusted independently without affecting others.
The solution was a state-of-the-art TVR Ultra VRF system — technology that manages multiple zones from shared refrigerant infrastructure, adjusting each unit's capacity in real time to match the actual load of the space at any given moment.
What was installed
- Multiple TVR Ultra condensing units on the rooftop — installed with optimized refrigerant connections to minimize efficiency losses across the distribution run.
- Cassette indoor units in classrooms and common areas — uniform air distribution in each room, with quiet operation that does not interfere with teaching and learning.
- Black flush-mount diffusers on the ground floor — finish-matched to the architectural design. The diffusers sit flush with the ceiling in a matte black finish that integrates with the space.
- Per-classroom zone control — each classroom maintains its own temperature configuration independently. The system does not impose a single building-wide temperature profile.
- Optimized refrigerant branch layout — designed to balance capacity distribution across all zones and maximize system-wide energy efficiency.
What this demonstrates
Schools have a specific operational profile: high occupancy during defined hours, precise per-zone control requirements and zero tolerance for failures on school days. This project demonstrates that Mecatecnia has direct experience executing HVAC installations in institutional environments with that level of demand — including coordination with school administration to avoid disrupting operations during the installation.
Questions that typically come up after seeing this project
Do you work with other schools or educational institutions in Santo Domingo? Yes. The HVAC profile of an educational institution — per-classroom control, quiet operation, efficiency over long schedules — is one of the best matches for a correctly dimensioned VRF system. Contact us to assess your specific project.
What is TVR Ultra and why was it selected for this project? TVR Ultra is a high-performance VRF system line. Brand and model selection always responds to the project's technical requirements: required capacity, zone configuration, installation conditions and expected energy efficiency. For Carol Morgan, the combination of capacity, efficiency and cassette indoor unit availability drove the selection.
How was ongoing school operation managed during the installation period? Coordination with the school included phasing work in a way that minimized impact on areas in use. This type of coordination is part of our process in institutional projects and is planned from the project outset.
